Trade Buzz: Buffalo Bills Eyeing Los Angeles Rams’ Superstar Receiver Cooper Kupp

In an unexpected twist, rumors of a blockbuster trade proposal are circulating, with a top AFC heavyweight, the Buffalo Bills, setting their sights on acquiring Los Angeles Rams’ superstar wide receiver, Cooper Kupp.
Although the Rams have not officially announced that Kupp is on the trading block, the recent departure of All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins suggests that no player is untouchable in the Rams’ organization.
Buffalo Bills’ writer Brandon Croce, from FanSided’s BuffaLowDown page, recently proposed the idea of the AFC East club pursuing a trade for the 2021 Offensive Player of the Year:
“The Los Angeles Rams find themselves in a unique situation where they cannot afford to rebuild due to trading away a significant portion of their future high draft picks. Additionally, they have experienced the loss of key veterans such as Jalen Ramsey and Bobby Wagner.
As the Rams have an aging roster, their Super Bowl window may be closing, if it hasn’t already. If the Rams realize mid-season that this year may not be their year, they possess two players who would generate tremendous interest, and the Buffalo Bills should be interested in both…
At just 30 years old, Kupp still has several productive seasons ahead of him, making him a perfect fit for the Bills’ offense. Primarily a slot receiver, Kupp is renowned for his exceptional hands, ranking among the league’s best. Acquiring Kupp would significantly bolster the wide receiver position and provide the Bills with the strongest group of pass catchers in the league.”
Under the guidance of general manager Les Snead, the Rams have consistently adopted a “win-now” approach, resulting in two NFC Championships (in 2018 and 2021) and a Super Bowl 56 victory.
However, with the Rams depleting their draft capital during this all-in strategy, the long-term outlook for the organization appears less promising. Therefore, it would be logical for them to consider trading veterans like Kupp in exchange for promising young assets.
Currently, the Rams seem determined to bounce back from their disappointing 5-12 season. They have retained key players, including Kupp, future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald, and veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Nevertheless, if the Rams eventually make Kupp available for trade, teams in win-now mode, such as the Buffalo Bills, should be eager to explore this opportunity. The Bills are in need of a WR2 to complement star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and the addition of Super Bowl 56 MVP Cooper Kupp would perfectly fill that void.
Throughout his career, Kupp has amassed an impressive 508 receptions for 6,329 yards and 46 touchdowns. His outstanding performance in 2021, leading the league in catches (145), receiving yards (1,947), and receiving touchdowns (16), earned him the coveted “Triple Crown” for wide receivers.
